To achieve the target goals of Pre-Primary class viz. Balvatika-3 (Ka-Shreni), the state implements/conducts different activities/interventions under Samagra Shiksha. In the Financial year, 2025-26, the state implemented various activities giving focus on capacity building of teachers and teacher educators, proper use of teaching learning materials, print-rich environment, involvement of parents and mother’s groups etc. 

Major activities/programmes implemented in 2025-26:

  1. As a guide, for smooth classroom transaction of Ka-Shreni, the Teacher Handbook (with weekly Planner) is provided to 23,731 Teachers teaching in the Pre-Primary Class (Ka-Shreni) class.
  2. To track a child’s physical, cognitive, socio-emotional, and linguistic development, ensuring early identification of needs and fostering a seamless transition to Grade I, a Holistic Progress Card (HPC) is provided to 2, 42,906 Ka-Shreni learners.
  3. Assam is implementing the Pictorial Activity Calendar for the development of various components of ECCE with the help of parents at home. Activity Calendar for the students of Pre Primary Class (Ka-Shreni) is developed in collaboration with SCERT, Assam in 15 mediums and provided to 2, 42, 906 parents of Ka-Shreni learners. It improves specified domains and ensures the learning outcomes of Ka-shreni learners. 
  4. To build the capacity of teachers on preparation of TLMs for teaching in Ka-Shreni smoothly Rs 2,000/-was provided to each teacher having Ka-Shreni (23731 schools) for TLM preparation. It encourages the teachers to develop/prepare/explore innovative, low-cost/no-cost TLMs aligned with the curriculum/learning outcomes. 
  5. To build the capacity of teachers for smooth classroom transaction to ensure Key-domains and the learning outcomes of Ka-Shreni learners, a 5-day Block Level Teachers’ Training on ECCE was conducted covering 11745 Teachers teaching in Ka-Shreni.
  6. Comprehensive Development of children programme (school readiness) was conducted in 23731 schools (having Ka-Shreni enrolment) in collaboration with PRATHAM, involving parents and guardians. Accountability of parents/guardians has been enhanced through this programme. 
  7. Cloth bags are provided to 2,42,906 Ka-Shreni learners.
  8. In the FY- 2025-26, Fund (@Rs.75,000/- per school) was released for the development of Exemplar Pre Primary Classrooms in 99 schools.
  9. BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) feature was implemented in 987 schools having Ka-shreni learners.
