1. ICT & Digital Initiatives in school Education:

The Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, aims at providing state of the art Information and Communication Technology facilities in School education. The funding for the scheme is provided by Govt. of India 90% and State 10% of the total cost. The project period is 5 years.

The scheme provides the following:

1. 1. To set up ICT enabled lab with necessary accessories in Government/Provincialised Upper Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary schools.
   2. To do capacity building of the teachers in the use of ICT in class
   3. To develop e-content.

3. Department of School Education has implemented ICT in 2,489 Upper Primary and 4,184 Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools in Assam in phase manner.

Smart Classroom

1. Department of Education and Literacy, Govt. of India has target to established smart classroom where ICT in schools scheme has phased out. Department of Schools Education, Govt. of Assam has established Smart Class in 14 Adarsha Vidyalaya under RIDF fund in the year 2021-22.
2. Now, work has been started to establish Smart Class in 3883 Upper Primary and Secondary & Sr. Secondary schools within June, 2023.

Tele Education

Tele-Education is a technology aided instruction platform in Assam which has enabled remote teaching using e-content from broadcasting studio at any location. The project is designed to help students in rural Government Schools to get the clarity of concepts in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and English. Chosen experts teach LIVE and interactively to remote area Schools.  The program is built on the Hybrid Satellite – Terrestrial Communication Technologies, which is suitable in all geographic conditions. Schools connect with multi-way audio, video, and data transfers.

1. Two central studios have established in Guwahati and 3 content studios in 3 districts- Dhemaji, Karbi Anglong and Kokrajhar for broadcasting the classes and to prepare content in English, Assamese, Bodo & Bengali language.
2. Tele classroom has been established in 2557 schools and classes have been continued in these schools.
3. Now, work has been started to establish Tele Classroom in 645 Upper Primary and Secondary & Sr. Secondary schools and a studio in Silchar, Cachar district within June, 2023.
4. Moreover, ERNET India has established Tele Education in 30 Secondary (Provincialised) Schools, 2 KV and three 3 DIETs in Barpeta, Dhubri and Goalpara in Assam under NEC’s project.

Tinkering Lab

Realizing the need to create scientific temper and cultivate the spirit of curiously and innovating among young minds, Govt. of India has established Tinkering Laboratories (TL) in schools in India. Tinkering lab is a work space where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands on do-it-yourself mode and learn/develop innovation skills.

Tinkering Lab implemented in total 222 Secondary schools in last three years phase manner as approved by Department of Schools Education, Govt. of India.
