AROHAN- in brief is a Mentor-Mentee programme for meritorious students of Secondary classes of Government schools envisioned by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam. AROHAN is a programme – about taking everyone along, about handholding & support, about giving back to society.
AROHAN – means Ascent. A properly mentored and guided upcoming generation shall be the strength and asset of the society and the future of Assam and our Nation’s pride. Under the AROHAN the talented students of class IX XII will be provided support through mentoring/counselling for career progression, exposure and incentive either cash or kind. This is a flagship program of the Government of Assam which started in the year 2022-23.
The Mentees: 12,929 Mentees (Students) have been registered under AROHAN scheme during 2022-23, 2023-24 & 2024-25 including 116 Tea Garden Model Schools, 25 Adarsha Vidyalayas and 81 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.
The Mentors: Senior Government Officials both serving and retired, alumni of the school, students studying for a postgraduate degree or above at an esteemed University, Entrepreneur with his/her own businesses, professionals/Corporate with original domicile of Assam serving anywhere in India or abroad can be a mentor. The District Commissioner is the Chief Mentor in the district.
The total number of Mentors registered on the AROHAN portal is 11,695 which includes Teachers/ Principals (including those retired as well), Professors of Colleges and Universities, IAS and ACS officers, IPS and APS officers, Govt. Employees, Businessmen, Entrepreneurs, Engineers, Architects, Doctors, NGO workers, Social Activists, Public Representatives, Advocates, Banking Professionals etc.
Activities conducted under Arohan during 2024-25:
Exposure visit to the premier institutions/organizations for the Mentees was conducted in the month January, 2023 during 2022-23 and the exposure visits organised from September to December, 2023 for the Mentees of Class-X during 2023-24. Total 3513 Mentees covered under exposure visit in both the phases.
Till 30th October, 2024, as many as 2,488 Mentees covered from 30th July in 22 districts in 10 batches.

During their exposure visit, mentees visited premier institutions and organizations like-
Students benefitted through motivational sessions with army officers, orientation & demonstrations at Bio-Tech Park & Regional Science Centre, Interaction with the Experts at IIT Guwahati, participating in the exhibition held at Narengi Military Station, attending career counselling sessions at Assam Administrative Staff College, visiting AIIMS, Guwahati, State Museum, State Zoo and Planetarium etc. Cultural exchange among the students and cultural programme of eminent artists were also organized for the Mentees.
Interactive sessions were also organized with the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Hon’ble Minister of Labour Welfare and Hon’ble Minister of Public Health Engineering.
