ICT & Digital Initiatives in school Education:
The Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, aims at providing state of the art Information and Communication Technology facilities in School education. The funding for the scheme is provided by Govt. of India 90% and State 10% of the total cost. The project period is 5 years.
The scheme provides the following:
Department of School Education has implemented ICT in 2,489 Upper Primary and 4,184 Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools in Assam in phase manner.
Smart Classroom
Tele Education
Tele-Education is a technology aided instruction platform in Assam which has enabled remote teaching using e-content from broadcasting studio at any location. The project is designed to help students in rural Government Schools to get the clarity of concepts in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and English. Chosen experts teach LIVE and interactively to remote area Schools. The program is built on the Hybrid Satellite – Terrestrial Communication Technologies, which is suitable in all geographic conditions. Schools connect with multi-way audio, video, and data transfers.
Tinkering Lab
Realizing the need to create scientific temper and cultivate the spirit of curiously and innovating among young minds, Govt. of India has established Tinkering Laboratories (TL) in schools in India. Tinkering lab is a work space where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands on do-it-yourself mode and learn/develop innovation skills.
Tinkering Lab implemented in total 222 Secondary schools in last three years phase manner as approved by Department of Schools Education, Govt. of India.
